I feel stupid O.o I got 2 really obvious questions wrong.
I mixed up Declaration of Independence with Constitution of the United States.

I'm confused. Why is Independence Day not technically the US's independence from England?
Congress did not officially sign the Declaration of Independence on July 4th. I think it went to a point around August 2nd, where most of the delegates signed the document.
July 4th is the date when the Declaration of Independence was first adopted.
